Traditional Finishes: Wax & French Polishing

This course is designed for those who have a passion for working with wood and want to perfect their techniques of finishing and colouring. You can try with a new object or restore the finish of a piece of old damaged furniture . The knowledge of the timber essences and the infinite possibilities of finishing to improve their appearance are part of the topic addressed in the program. Woodworking has always been an art which has fascinated people for centuries. Being a living material and versatile, warm and attractive in appearance, it has been integral part of our homes through history. During our course you will learn to enhance the timber appearance by practising traditional finishing methods (water staining, shellac and wax polishing, lacquering) or experimenting with modern finishes on objects that should, because of their nature, resist outdoor weathering.
